DJ LeMahieu Injury Update: Aaron Boone Shares Bad News For Yankees Fans.. See moer
The New York Yankees fans are eager to see DJ LeMahieu back in the lineup soon. However, there might be some not-so-great news. The fans’ wait could extend a little longer as the infielder is undergoing additional tests due to lingering soreness. The veteran has been sidelined since spring training with a fractured right foot, and the wait for his return is far from over.
Just a day ago, the updates seemed promising. Manager Aaron Boone displayed optimism about LeMahieu rejoining the team for their series against the Baltimore Orioles later this week. A planned four-game rehab stint with Double-A Somerset was seen as the final hurdle before his return. However, it seems like “he came in still a little bit sore today”.
The latest tests conducted revealed the underlying cause of soreness. It was residual edema, or persistent swelling, in LeMahieu’s foot. This little setback yet again means the Yankees will be without their starting third baseman “for at least a week,” as Boone stated. The team would be reassessing his status on a weekly basis to track his progress.
This news comes as a blow to both LeMahieu and the Yanks. LeMahieu, willing to rejoin the team at the earliest, reportedly felt “chomping at the bit” after weeks of positive recovery. In the meantime, the Yankees are devoid of LeMahieu’s veteran presence and steady production at the hot corner.
