Harrison Burton addresses those who disagree that he should be in the NASCAR Playoffs.
Harrison Burton has been subjected to a barrage of criticism from those in the NASCAR industry following his victory in the Coca-Cola Zero Sugar 400. This week, the talk mostly revolved upon the reinstatement of the playoff point threshold, the merits of the 21st team’s inclusion, and other related topics.
No, Harrison Burton did not lie. He followed the regulations exactly. According to the current regulations, Burton’s victory qualifies him for the NASCAR Playoffs. Rules are what they are.
In an interview with FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, Burton was candid about his detractors. He doesn’t mind, but he wants his race team to be treated with the dignity that they merit.
“No, I don’t really care. I understand, correct? stated Burton. “We haven’t assembled with the same regularity as some other people or anything like that. However, those were the regulations in place before to the year. Therefore, it doesn’t now affect our status if they change them next year, but that’s okay. The only thing that irritates me is that I felt like it detracted somewhat from the work my race team did.
“Those players who ought to be in the postseason They’ve done a great job, in my opinion, the entire year. While some of that is true, we merely turned up to the race and won it; on the other hand, the rules are the rules.
Harrison Burton is competing in the playoffs.
It is difficult to believe that Burton, who is simply following the same rules as the other drivers, is competing in the playoffs in a car that is dead last among full-time drivers. That is not Burton’s fault; that is a systemic issue.
Even so, Burton hasn’t given us much to look at. He entered the Cup Series in the same rookie class as Austin Cindric and Todd Gilliland. Two victories in his career—one in the 2022 Daytona 500—belong to Cindric. Gilliland, who has made significant progress, will represent Front Row in the upcoming year.
In actuality, Gilliland and Cindric are both among the top 20 scorers this season. Both of them had many top-10 placings. More than 100 laps have been led by both drivers.
