CURLING CANADA, ROCK SOLID PRODUCTIONS PARTNERSHIP EXTENDED THROUGH 2028….

Sport news

Following a record-breaking season in which they gave more youth curling experiences than ever before, Rock Solid Productions and Curling Canada are happy to jointly announce today that their collaboration will be extended until the 2027–2028 season.

The two organizations have been collaborating for over ten years to introduce curling to school gymnasiums across Canada. Through creative programs that reach out beyond the gymnasiums and into communities that haven’t typically had the opportunity to experience curling, they have increased the number of curling opportunities available.

Chief Executive Officer of Curling Canada Nolan Thiessen stated, “We’re thrilled that we can continue this collaboration with the team at Rock Solid Productions, which has been a leader — not only in Canada but around the world — in opening doors to people to participate in curling for the first time.” “Our common goal is to provide curling experiences in innovative and thrilling ways that will contribute to the growth of our sport for many years to come.”

The most visible part of the partnership is Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings, presented by Curling Canada. The program keeps growing and innovating to remove obstacles to participation in our sport, including teacher resources that can be downloaded and wheelchair-accessible equipment.

With more than 257,000 curling experiences provided, Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings, presented by Curling Canada, celebrated its 15th anniversary in record style this past season.

Chad McMullan, president of Rock Solid Productions, stated that “accessibility and inclusivity, combined with innovative ways to reach new communities and audiences, are core aspects of ensuring the sport continues to grow.” “Our long-standing partnership with Curling Canada has allowed us to embrace new ways of introducing curling in a safe and welcoming environment for all, and we look forward to continue building upon that strong foundation.” Another highly successful event that came about as a result of a collaboration with the Alberta First Nations Health Consortium was the opportunity for First Nations Youth to try curl with Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings.

The FloorCurl sets’ presence at this past season’s BKT Tires World Women’s Championship, Montana’s Brier, and Scotties Tournament of Hearts was another obvious result of Curling Canada and Rock Solid Productions’ collaboration. For young people in school, FloorCurl remains an affordable, welcoming, and enjoyable way to curl, even for those who previously did not consider curling to be a feasible option for exercise and leisure.

“The effect that our team is producing is a remarkable demonstration of the influence of athletics,” stated Brodie Bazinet, Senior Manager, Youth Impacts & Philanthropy. “We would not be able to reach the widest range of young people, remove obstacles to sport engagement and accessibility, and provide meaningful curling experiences to people from all socioeconomic backgrounds and geographic locations without the help of Rock Solid Productions.”
