Philips and PSV Eindhoven continue to have the world’s longest sports sponsorship relationship.

Sport news

Philips, a technology brand, founded PSV Eindhoven as a pastime in 1913. Today, after 24 Eredivisie titles and KNVB Cups, Philips holds the record for the longest sponsorship of a sports team. Guinness World Records Adjudicator Joanne Brent attended the annual gala to announce the record.

According to the club’s CEO, Marcel Brands, “Although the interpretation of the sponsorship has changed over the years, we are happy with Philips’ commitment.”

PSV is the second most successful team in Dutch football history, and the club has a rich history.

Greats like Ruud Gullit, Jaap Stam, and Brazilian sensation Ronaldo all excelled at the club before moving on to Europe’s top teams.

They’ve also had some prominent coaches, including as Ronald Koeman, Guus Hiddink, and Sir Bobby Robson.

And their collaboration began at the same location where PSV play their home games today, in central Eindhoven, just a few miles from Philips’ Eindhoven headquarters.

Philips CEO Roy Jakobs stated, “This is an excellent illustration of how our firm values long-term collaborations based on innovation, relationships, and impact.

“With our innovations in health technology, we contribute to PSV’s better performance in multiple areas.”
