Breaking News: Duke Dominates Georgia Tech with 82-56 Victory in Atlanta

Duke’s men’s basketball team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday night, defeating Georgia Tech 82-56 at the McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta. The Blue Devils demonstrated their defensive prowess and offensive efficiency in a game that highlighted the team’s depth and growing chemistry as the season progresses.

The game started with Duke setting the tone early, building a double-digit lead within the first ten minutes. The Blue Devils’ aggressive defense forced turnovers and disrupted Georgia Tech’s rhythm, limiting their offensive opportunities. Duke’s transition game was equally effective, with quick passes and accurate shooting enabling them to capitalize on Georgia Tech’s mistakes.

Freshman sensation Kon Knueppel led Duke’s scoring with 18 points, shooting an impressive 7-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Knueppel’s performance showcased his versatility as both a scorer and a facilitator, earning praise from head coach Jon Scheyer.

“Kon is a special talent,” Scheyer said after the game. “He’s got a great feel for the game, and his ability to shoot under pressure is incredible. But what stood out tonight was his effort on defense and his willingness to make the extra pass.”

Khaman Maluach, another standout freshman, had a strong game on both ends of the floor. He scored 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and blocked three shots, anchoring Duke’s interior defense. Maluach’s physical presence in the paint made it difficult for Georgia Tech to find any offensive rhythm near the basket.

Cooper Flagg, celebrating his 18th birthday, contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and two electrifying dunks that brought the Duke fans in attendance to their feet. Flagg also showcased his defensive instincts with two steals and a block, further solidifying his reputation as one of the top young players in college basketball.

Duke’s three-point shooting was a key factor in their victory, as the team shot 40% (10-for-25) from beyond the arc. Their ball movement and unselfish play created open looks, and the Blue Devils took full advantage. Tyrese Proctor and Sion James also chipped in with solid performances, combining for 16 points and providing veteran leadership on the court.

Georgia Tech struggled to counter Duke’s dominance, with their leading scorer managing only 12 points. The Yellow Jackets were held to 36% shooting from the field and turned the ball over 17 times, underscoring Duke’s defensive pressure.

The victory improves Duke’s record to 10-2 on the season and boosts their confidence heading into ACC play. Up next, the Blue Devils will face a tough challenge against a ranked opponent, aiming to build on their momentum.

For Georgia Tech, the loss highlights areas needing improvement as they seek to regroup their next matchup.
