Rutgers football has made a significant addition to its roster by signing former Penn State cornerback Cam Miller. Miller, who entered the transfer portal following the Nittany Lions’ loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Scarlet Knights’ defense.
During his tenure at Penn State, Miller appeared in 40 games over three seasons, making five starts. In the 2024 season, he recorded 27 tackles (17 solo), four tackles for loss, one sack, and five pass deflections. His performance earned him a 70.0 grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking him 390th out of 848 qualifying cornerbacks. citeturn0search3
Miller’s decision to transfer to Rutgers was swift, finalizing his move less than a week after entering the transfer portal. He is the third former Penn State player to find a new home for the 2025 season, following quarterback Beau Pribula’s move to Missouri and tight end Jerry Cross’s transfer to Memphis. citeturn0search10
Originally from Fernandina Beach, Florida, Miller played high school football at Trinity Christian Academy, the same program that produced former Rutgers wide receiver Isaiah Washington. Out of high school, Miller was a three-star prospect with offers from numerous programs, including Air Force, Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, South Carolina, UCF, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. citeturn0search3
Miller will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Scarlet Knights. His addition is expected to bolster Rutgers’ secondary, bringing experience and depth to the defensive backfield.
This acquisition underscores Rutgers’ commitment to strengthening its roster through strategic transfers, aiming to enhance its competitiveness in the upcoming season.
