For the much awaited Cosafa U20 Championships, the 18-year-old has been named to the South African U20 Men’s national squad.
Consequently, what happened?
Head coach Raymond Mdaka revealed his team for the forthcoming youth competition on Tuesday, September 17.
On Sunday, September 22, Amajita will report to camp in anticipation of the much awaited Cosafa U20 Championships, which are due to take place in Maputo, Mozambique, from September 25 to October 5.
The squad is intent on doing well at the Cosafa Championships, with a major objective of earning a spot in the 2025 Caf U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
WHAT TERMINATED?
“I think we have selected a strong quality squad and will be able to achieve our objectives, even though some clubs failed to release the players we requested for this important tournament,” Mdaka stated through Safa Media.
“From the day I took office, we had a clear goal for the Cosafa Championships. We have to finish in the top two in the Championship in order to qualify for the U20 Fifa World Cup in 2025.
He said, “We will make sure we complete the mission at hand and we are grateful to all the clubs who have released their players.”
Goalkeepers for AMAJITA’S FULL SQUAD are Takalani Mazhamba (Kaizer Chiefs), Kgoleng Ratisani (Sekhukhune), and Fletcher Smythe-Lowe (Astoria Praia, Portugal).
Defenders: Asekho Tiwani (Mamelodi Sundowns), Gopolang Taunyana (Kaizer Chiefs), Tylon Smith (Stellenbosch), Mbekezele Mbokazi (Orlando Pirates), and Sifiso Timba (Kaizer Chiefs)
The following midfielders are in the Melodi Sundowns starting lineup: Gomolemo Kekana, Ofentse Kgosana, Mfundo Vilakazi, Siyabonga Mabena, Lazola Maku, Shakeel April, Lefa Autata, Shandre Campbell, Club NXT – Belgium, Xhosa Manyama, Emile Witbooi.
Kutlwano Letlhaku of Mamelodi Sundowns and Thabang Mahlangu of SuperSport United are the forwards.

South Africa’s initial match in the Cosafa Championships is scheduled for September 27 against Malawi. The country has been seated in Group C.
After that, on September 29, Amajita will play Lesotho, and on October 1, they will play Comoros. Their objective would be to guarantee a spot in the October 3, 2024, semi-finals.
AHEAD FOR THE CHIEFS?
Vilakazi is serving his country and won’t be able to play for the Glamour Boys, thus Nasreddine Nabi will have to rely on the rest of his team.
Despite the young player’s absence, Amakhosi have a busy Premier Soccer League schedule, which includes a pivotal match on September 28 against Mamelodi Sundowns.
