The Boston Bruins will begin training camp for the 2024-25 NHL season without starting goaltender Jeremy Swayman. Don Sweeney, the Bruins’ general manager, confirmed this to reporters on Wednesday.

Swayman, a restricted free agent, has decided not to report while his representatives work out a new deal with the Bruins. Despite Swayman’s eligibility for arbitration, the two sides earlier chose not to pursue it.
“He has chosen to wait, and rightfully so, until a contract is settled,” she stated. “We intend to continue to negotiate a contract. I’m upset that when you make things a priority in the general manager position, you do your best to achieve them, and I haven’t been able to do so yet.”

Sweeney stated that he expects Swayman to join the team before December 1. This is the deadline for a team to sign a player to a contract and make him eligible to play in the current season.
Jeremy Swayman made his Bruins debut in 2020-21 and has since played 132 games, including 125 starts. His record is 79-33-15, with a 2.34 goals-against average (GAA) and.919 save percentage. Last season, Swayman made the All-Star team after going 25-10-8 with a 2.53 GAA and.916 save percentage.
