Could Anthony Edwards be the next face of the NBA? Basketball superstar Stephen Curry certainly thinks so.
The Paris 2024 champion praised his Olympic teammate at a press conference their teams, the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, played against each other on Sunday, 8 December.
“He’s tough, he can do anything on the court,” Curry said. “He’s shooting the ball at a high level now, he’s got that dog in him.
“I got to feel that energy all summer and what he brought to Team USA. He talks trash, he’s in every moment, and the league is in great hands for the next 15 years with him just being who he is.”
Curry’s Golden State Warriors beat Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves 114-106 on Sunday night in a reverse of the Timberwolves’ 107-90 victory over the Warriors on Friday.
Edwards was the top scorer for the Timberwolves on both occassions, with 37 points on Sunday and 35 points on Friday. He has an average of 26.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this season.
Paris 2024 marked an Olympic debut for both Edwards and Curry who joined forces to win Team USA’s fifth straight title.
Edwards turned 23 on 5 August during the Olympic Games and was the youngest player on the team. He averaged 12.8 points in that tournament and was a 48 per cent 3-point shooter.
